The first of the 2012 Switchbacks series will be held January 8th. This is a free event for everyone! The theme of the 2012 series is “Mystery Races”. All events will be held in a unique format, and will not be announced until the day of the event. We will be running this event bi monthly throughout the year. Prizes from our sponsors will be raffled off for all participants. All events will be held rain or shine so come prepared for some fun in the rain!

Is it possible to show up late, like around 12?
Can’t guarantee that we won’t have already started by noon. If we can fit you into a heat we will, if not it will still be worth your while to come. You are more than welcome to skate behind the heats as the race is going on. This should be a rad gathering of riders so it will be fun to ride even if you are not racing. The focus of this years events is more fun than competitiveness. So please do come and bring all your friends!!

Yes, we should have some spare helmets you can borrow.
would this be a good race for a beginner?
Yes. This is the best environment for beginners. To race you are definitely going to need some slide gloves and a helmet, which you should have anyway. You might also want some experience on the course ahead of time. Even if you are not comfortable with racing this will be a great opportunity to get to know more experienced riders and learn from them.
bi monthly means every other month or twice a month?
Bi monthly is every other month. But trust me, as the weather gets better there is going to be a whole lot more going on as well!

We will be on the hill most of the day. Enjoy your traditions, then come enjoy ours. Even if you don’t get to race this should be a lot of fun

Can you tell me if this is a closed course . . . i.e. is the race on the road and if so, will cars be on the road at the same time as riders? Thanks.
Yes, the switchbacks course is always blocked off to cars except for the occational service vehicle. That is what makes it do ideal for a free event.
Can I ride my buttboard down between rounds?
You can ride a unicycle between runs if you want. This is not a formal event. Just come prepared to have fun.
when will the results be posted? im anxious to see my name on the podium! oh and i heard something about each race is going to have points awarded for the podium…. maybe just a rumor… could you shed some light on it?
